Ritual Spiral Collaborative Walk
Inspiral London

In this short exploratory walk, artists Birgitta Hosea and Sarah Sparkes lead participants through a collaborative Ritual Collaborative Drawing on the Thames. Gail Dickerson Inspiraled all walkers through the layers of London’s geology encountered on the journey as we reach the foreshore – Inspiralling through London Clay, Claygate, and River Terrace Deposits… Time travel spiral walking adventure.

“Walking, a practice of on the ground mapping, allows us to imagine together other cities, different times, and worlds, as we confront the reality of our ever-changing metropoles.” (Charlie Fox 2017)

Afterward, I scanned the rocks collected from the riverbank and used stop-motion techniques to create a series of dynamic looping images. These visuals combine real-life shots taken during walks with 3D maps of the same locations, inspired by the experience of walking and exploring online maps, aiming to rediscover and reflect on the deep connection between self and place.
